Riverdale Park Station’s Spring Carnival is this weekend! |
Carnivals-a-plenty, Whole Foods Market’s Anniversary Events, Spring Greening Fun & more to explore this weekend, Route One! Take advantage of the beautiful weather & check out the fun events lined up for this weekend – before it drops to 30 degrees next week (jkjk.)
FRIDAY (80s & no rain = Enjoy outside!)
Watkins Regional Park Playground
This. Place. Is Awesome. Truly awesome Wizard of Oz-themed playground where you literally follow the yellow brick road under a rainbow arch as the Scarecrow shows you the way to your choice of six fun areas: Dorothy’s Farm House, Munchkin Land, the Emerald Forest, the Emerald City of Oz, the Balloon Escape, the Ruby Red Shoes. Playground, nature center and farm are free to explore and enjoy!
When: 9 am – 6 pm

Head to Bladensburg Waterfront Park (BWP) and explore the 4-mile segment of the Trail now connecting the District with BWP! We packed lunches, parked at BWP and then walked the Trail all the way to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. It was lovely! Grab a bit of respite at Kenilworth, maybe eat that lunch you packed and then head back to BWP, where the kids can play/climb/laugh in an old B & O caboose.

Pack a picnic, check out the duck pond and then have fun at 1 of the 3 playgrounds at this park! There’s one right at the entrance off of Wells Blvd but if you wander a bit on the bike path you’ll find there’s an even bigger one just down to the right with structures for the toddler and 5-12 crew.

Greenbelt Maker Festival
We invite you to join us as a “maker,” to share your interests, skills, and projects with others in our community. A Maker is anyone who designs or creates stuff, anything from traditional arts and crafts to the latest electronic technology. Come and share your passion with others.

Spring Greening Fair & ExpoThe Mount Rainier Green Team will be hosting this family-fun event full of vendors with sustainable goods and information to teach the kiddos about green issues. Blue Sky Puppet Theatre will perform “The Three Green Pigs” and there were be games and activities for kids!

Hyattsville’s 132nd Anniversary Carnival!
Carnival Amusements for the whole family! Rides, games and good concessions! Mandy the Clown all day Saturday & Sunday! (Mandy is h.i.l.a.r.i.o.u.s!)

Riverdale Park Station’s Spring Carnival!
Come join Riverdale Park Station at our first ever Spring Carnival! We will be celebrating the one year anniversary of Whole Foods Market. There will be carnival games, a petting zoo, bouncy house, face painting, balloon twisting, the Explore! Mission Mobile Bus, live music, refreshments and snacks, a magic show, a special appearance from 94.7 Fresh FM, community partnerships, and so much more! The first 50 families in attendance will receive a swag bag.

Halfway to Halloween
Because once a year is not enough! Get more use out of that great costume, and come have fun! Costume parade, costume contest, games, prizes, activities, music, food, face painting, snacks and beverages for sale. Cash bar! Food for sale, 50-50 drawing. Profits from this Saturday’s Halfway to Halloween event will go the the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.

Star Watch & Stories (All ages; registration required)
Can you find a snake, bear, or horse in the sky? Join us as we discover the constellations, learn how animals use stars, and even find some ways we can protect animals at night. Several powerful telescopes will be on hand to reveal distant galaxies and stars.When: 8:30-9:30pm

Sunday Experiment – It’s All About Robots! (Ages 5-10 years old)
One can’t imagine the future without thinking of robots, and NASA is no exception. They’ve been helping NASA with science and exploration for many years and will continue to do so in new and exciting ways. Join us at the April Sunday Experiment to learn all about NASA’s robotic applications of the future! A robotics engineer will talk about robot basics, how robots are made and how they are used in space.
