Calling all fun and creative 6 to 10 year-olds! The highly-popular Arts on a Roll group is offering three new, mighty affordable virtual Saturday morning classes though their “Out of the Box” series! Ever tried embroidery? Told a story through homemade puppets? Giggled a morning away clowning ? Well – now’s your chance! This new series can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home. No need to change out of your pajamas!
For just $20/class, you’ll get 90-minutes of virtual instruction by artists well respected for their craft. You’ll also be provided with all of the necessary supplies for your registered class. This means no need for any last minute Target runs! Everything you need will be in the bag collected ahead of time from either the Brentwood or Laurel pick-up locations.

“Out of the Box” Series with Arts on a Roll
Arts on a Roll is a mobile arts service in the community that comes to you. Well, we might not be able to be in-person right now, but that is not stopping us from bringing art to the young and the young-at-heart with our new virtual at-home program for children!
These classes, appropriate for children ages 6-10, are inspired by thinking out of the box, learning new skills, and a healthy amount of play and fun! Think creatively and get “Out of the Box” with Arts on a Roll!
Kids Embroidery: Flowers & Insects (5/29)
In this fun online workshop, kids will work with a felt embroidery kit (supplied) to create their own unique embroidered artwork!

Mixed-media visual artist, Suzanne Herbert-Forton will virtually show participants how to create a design and then how to use that design as a pattern. She will show the class how to cut out felt shapes using this pattern.

No Sew Puppets! (6/12)
At this virtual puppetry workshop, kids will have a blast creating their own personal puppet influenced by Asian Glove puppets! Instructor H M Carter designed the class to promote dexterity, creativity and storytelling!

Clowning for Kids! (6/26)
Join artist H M Carter for a virtual clowning class for the young performer! This class is a lighthearted introduction to the joy of clowning.

Practicing their most exaggerated expressions!
A clown is an artist or performer who makes the audience laugh using tools like timing and physicality. This class is designed to be interactive, inventive and thoroughly entertaining.
When: Saturday, June 26th from 9am-10:30am

Fees: Resident and Non-Resident $20 per class.

These programs will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams. To register visit pgparksdirect.com. Note: Participation requires the use of the internet, a laptop, or desktop, and either Windows 10 (or newer) or MAC OS X 10.11 El Capitan (or newer). Use of the laptop/desktop camera and audio is also required.
