Riverdale Park Farmers Market

One of my fave farmers markets! Get your fresh and local produce right here! Live music, too! We love strolling around the Riverdale Park Farmers Market, buying some fresh, local produce, grabbing a bite from one of the vendors, absorbing some tunes while the kids frolic around and then we all head to Town Center Market to enjoy a tasty beer or 5 outside.

Join us for a panel discussion about black woman identity, beauty standards, and multi-generational traditions. Includes art exhibition, drinks and music.

Dance Dance Party Party!
Dance Dance Party Party is a women-only freestyle exercise dance session! Come in your exercise clothes. Burn anywhere from 200-400 calories Dance your heart out to an eclectic mix of music for an hour straight. Make new friends, leave refreshed!

Open Barre – $5 Friday Nights
Never tried Open Barre before? Now’s your chance. This class is open to everyone who registers – no membership required to sign up.

Vigilante Halloween Party

NextLOOK: Dior Ashley Brown presents The dAb Band
Through song, poetry, spoken word, hip-hop, theater and live instrumentation, Dior Ashley Brown and The dAb Band create a tribute to women past and present. This project will explore women’s struggles and their contribution to creative change.

Cheikh Ndoye & Friends
An accomplished musical artist whose music is a rich fusion of jazz and world music, bassist Cheikh Ndoye’s musical influences stem from his Senegalese heritage combined with his love for classic and contemporary American jazz. Ndoye will be performing with violinist Karen Briggs, drummer Raul Pineda, and pianist Nachito Herrera.
When: 8-10pm

College Park parkrun’s 1st Birthday! 
This Saturday marks CP’s parkrun’s 1st birthday! Join in the weekly, free, 5K, timed run. Afterwards, enjoy a post parkrun coffee in The Board & Brew, 8150 Baltimore Ave, College Park. All ages welcome!

Harmonica Workshop
This workshop will be for beginner harmonica players, will build upon the instructions from the September class. Saturday jam will being immediately after the workshop, all attendees invited to stay for the jam session.

Funkyard Festival
Bring your friends, family and your (friendly, leashed) pets to the Community Forklift warehouse for a celebration of all things reuse in the DC area! Featuring workshops on DIY Repair and Creative Reuse, Local Preservation and Historical Experts, Antiques Advice, Live Pottery Demonstrations, etc. Food truck, local craft beer available for purchase.

Third Saturday Reading with Sid Gold
Authors Sunil Freeman, Maritza Rivera, Katherine Smith will read from their works followed by open reading hosted by Sid Gold of the Washington Writer’s Guild. Always a grand time. Light refreshments available.

Mt. Rainier Intentional Blackout Porch Music Night

Arrow Bicycle Sunday Ride
The Sunday ride is a 32-mile, moderately paced ride that emphasizes group riding techniques. Those new to group riding are welcome as we regroup throughout the ride so that nobody is left behind. Ride starts at Arrow Bicycle. Many rides are held subject to weather so it’s a good idea to confirm dates, time and any specific requirements, too.
When: 9-11:30 am

Music in Mind: Prokofiev’s Quintet and Stavinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat
Rivals and fellow Russian expatriates, Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Prokofiev both sought – and found – fame and fortune writing music for the theater. They were also known for accepting short-term commissions from touring ballet troupes when in desperate need of cash.
